The earthworm is a long shape organism, they live in moist soil that contain organic matter. During the hot weather, they go downward into the soil to avoid losing much water and they come to the surface of the soil at night to feed and throw off their faeces.

- They bury into the soil to improve the air spaces in the soil.
- They promote soil fertility by dragging the leaves into the soil.
- They improve the structure of the soil.
