GOVERNMENT II

Why is the Division of Powers of Government Necessary

It is necessary to separate the powers of rulers for the following reasons:

  • To avoid too much power in the hand of a person: It is bad for a few people to become too powerful.
  • To avoid the abuse of power: When people have too much power, they will use it to oppress the people. They will become dictatorial.
  • To ensure that the leaders themselves obey the country’s constitution.
  • To ensure that the citizens enjoy their rights.
  • To ensure order in the society.
  • To uphold democracy: In democracy, one person does not rule the people, but the people rule themselves, because everyone has a say in governance.
  • To ensure peace in the society.
