Who is a Christian?
A Christian is someone who believes in Jesus and is living his or her life to honor Jesus every day. A Christian is that person that has made Jesus to be lord and master over his or her life. The Christian also have the Holy Spirit living inside him or her.
The word Christian is used three times in the New Testament (Acts 11:26; Acts 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16). Followers of Jesus Christ were first called “Christians” in Antioch (Acts 11:26) because they believed in Christ and followed His example. Their behavior, activity, and speech were like Christ. The word “Christian” literally means “belonging to the party of Christ” or a “follower of Christ”. The people who believed that Jesus was God also chose to live like Him. As a result, a group of people in Antioch teasingly applied Jesus’ title of Christ as a label for His followers.
Steps to become a Christian Acts 2:37-39
- Acknowledge that you are a sinner and that you have sinned
- Repent of the sin
- Confess your sin and ask for forgiveness from God for those sins and ask him to cleanse away the sin with the blood of Jesus
- Then ask Jesus to come into your heart
- Ask God to baptize you with the holy spirit
