Art history doesn’t consist in simply listing all the art movements and placing them on a timeline. It is the study of objects of art considered within their time period. Art historians analyze visual arts’ meaning (painting, sculpture, architecture) at the time they were created. Also, another of art history’s mission is to establishes authorial origins of artworks, i.e. discovering who created a particular artwork, when, when and for what reason. Iconography is a major part of art history. It consists in analyzing the symbolism of works of arts. For instance, art historians identify the visual elements of a painting and interpret its meaning. Art historians are interested in what the works of art represented at the time they were created. It is a way to learn about the civilizations of the past.

The oldest art we know is about 40,000 years old, it was painted on cave woods unsculptured from rocks and consisting mainly of people killing animals and each other and exception of that rolls is a famous woman from Willindof an actual faceless lady wearing no clothes but a shower cap. After a while people started writing things down, a proper history began. Civilization develops in Egypt, Greece, Rome, India and China. In the middle age, the western was donated by the church who disputed the validity that there’s only one God. Art could no longer featured on realistic things multi bellied elephant god, a wing bearded man moses but have to be about the things that happens in the bible, this more realistic than the painting of many yellow hats, many pictures and glowing babies. Then came to the return of the material world, real life places were render in three dimensions, convincing use of the spectic became wife spreads to show the way human body really is. Many images however remain religious in nature and also featured flying men done realistically. East and North began to developed in its own distinctive ways often showing scenes from everyday world or nature like mountains, human kissing, people on dressing gown getting angry for riding albino dogs. Then came modern art, the dawn of the “isms” like expresionism, impressionism, cubism, dadlism, surrealism and other isms that may be to rude or numerous to mention. The experiences of global war, the match of technology advent of technological progress and the popular theories of universe in human minds as spark by Einstein left an indelible mark on our species. Also, the paints of ghost, shapes, plants and colors can all be considered as arts in our world. Art today is many headed creatures, the need to create still boils down to human history and his desires.
