MEANING OF HADITH AND SUNNAH
The word hadith comes from Arabic Meaning ‘’areport’’ ‘’account’’ or ‘’narrative’’. Hadith is a collection of traditions containing saying and accounts of daily practice of prophet Muhammed. It describes the actions words or habit of the Holy Prophet.
Hadith is considered the main source of the sunnah or customary behaviour of the prophet. In other hand sunnah is an Arabic word which means ‘’path’’ or ‘’way’’. It is legal way, orders or acts of worship and statements followed by muslims.
The sunnah of prophet Muhammed include
Specific words – sunnah Qawliyyah
Habits and practices – sunnah ai-fihliyah
Silent approval – sunnah taqriyah
Examples of sunnah are:
Performing ablution before performing salat
Speaking good or keeping silent
Visiting the sick
Feeding the hungry.
