John, the forerunner of the Lord Jesus Christ was baptizing the people as was his practice at the river Jordan. People from all walks of Life have been patronizing John for baptism. This includes the rulers of the people, the Pharisees and Sadducees. John was saddled with the responsibility to prepare the way for Jesus Christ. when often asked “are you the Christ,” he simply told them that he was only a forerunner of the Christ.

On a particular day, Jesus came to John the Baptist at the Jordan River. As I was approaching John exclaimed, “behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29

John did not know who he was. He only came baptizing people with water so that Israel could know that Jesus is the Messiah.

Jesus as the door and the good Shepherd John 10: 1-18

Jesus taught the people that when a man enters the sheep pen, he should use the gate. If he climbs in some other way, he is a robber. He is trying to steal the sheep. But the man who takes care of the sheep enters through the gate. He is the shepherd.

By this Jesus presented himself as the door and the Good Shepherd.

Jesus taught the people in this manner, but they did not understand what he meant. So Jesus said again, “I assure you, I am the door for the sheep.”John 10:7

He explained to them that all those who came before him were thieves and robbers. That was the reason the sheep did not listen to them.

He said, “I am the door. Whoever enters through me will be saved. They will be able to come in and go out. They will find everything they need. I am the good shepherd, and the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.”

To outline the qualities of a Good Shepherd and said he was the Good Shepherd for a good lay down his life for the sheep voluntarily and will take it back.
