Glad to have you back in class.

UNITY IN CULTURAL DIVERSITY

Culture refers to the behavior and belief of a particular social ethnic or age group. It is, in sum, the way in which people from a certain place do things. Culture helps an individual identify him/herself and people who look like them. On the other hand, unity simply means oneness. Diversity is the differences in people’s beliefs and culture. In a nutshell, unity in cultural diversity simply means oneness inspite of differences.

In Nigeria, there are over 180 million people and over 250 ethnic groups. On the other hand, the population of the world is over 7 billion people and over 820 ethnic groups. This show that there are diverse cultural groups in Nigeria and the world at large. When people cannot respect their differences, this leads to tension and sometimes to war.
