John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917, in Brookline, Massachusetts, USA. He came from a wealthy family and was very smart. He studied at Harvard University and later joined the U.S. Navy, where he became a war hero.

In 1960, at the age of 43, he became the 35th President of the United States, making him the youngest President ever elected. People loved him because he had big dreams for America and the world.

As President, John F. Kennedy:

Encouraged people to serve their country and help others. He famously said, “Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.”

Created the Peace Corps, which sent young Americans to help people in poor countries.
