John F. Kennedy – The President Who Inspired the World
Have you ever had a leader who inspired you to believe in yourself and dream big? That’s what John F. Kennedy, also known as JFK, did for many people. He believed in peace, education, and making the world a better place. Even though he was President for a short time, his ideas and speeches still inspire people today.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917, in Brookline, Massachusetts, USA. He came from a wealthy family and was very smart. He studied at Harvard University and later joined the U.S. Navy, where he became a war hero.
In 1960, at the age of 43, he became the 35th President of the United States, making him the youngest President ever elected. People loved him because he had big dreams for America and the world.
As President, John F. Kennedy:
Encouraged people to serve their country and help others. He famously said, “Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.”
Created the Peace Corps, which sent young Americans to help people in poor countries.
Promoted civil rights and worked to make sure all people, no matter their skin colour, were treated fairly.
Started the space race and challenged America to send the first man to the moon. His dream came true in 1969 when Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon.
Unfortunately, John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. His death shocked the world, but his legacy still lives on.
Imagine a class where the head boy or head girl encourages everyone to study hard, help one another, and aim for greatness. That is the kind of leader John F. Kennedy was—he wanted his people to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals.
