  • Tall or short grasses depending on rainfall
  • Seasonal rain and long dry period

Importance:

  • Habitat for water birds and aquatic life

Challenges:

  • Oil pollution (especially in Niger Delta)
  • Land reclamation and drainage
  • Climate change affecting water levels
