Kitchen Cleaners
- All-Purpose Cleaner: Combine equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Add a few drops of essential oil for a pleasant scent. This cleaner can be used on countertops, appliances, and floors.
- Glass Cleaner: Mix one part white vinegar with four parts water in a spray bottle. Wipe clean with a paper towel.
- Oven Cleaner: Create a paste of baking soda and water. Apply to the oven and let it sit for 30 minutes. Scrub with a sponge and rinse.
Bathroom Cleaners
- Toilet Bowl Cleaner: Pour a cup of white vinegar into the toilet bowl and let it sit for 30 minutes. Scrub with a toilet brush and flush.
- Tile Cleaner: Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray onto tiles and scrub with a brush.
- Tub and Shower Cleaner: Sprinkle baking soda on a damp sponge and scrub the tub or shower. Rinse with warm water.
Laundry Detergent
- Homemade Laundry Detergent: Combine grated soap, washing soda, borax, and essential oils. Add a scoop to your washing machine.
Other Homemade Cleaners
- Furniture Polish: Mix equal parts olive oil and lemon juice. Apply to furniture and buff with a soft cloth.
- Carpet Cleaner: Sprinkle baking soda on carpets and let it sit for 30 minutes. Vacuum up the baking soda.
- Drain Cleaner: Pour a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by a cup of white vinegar. Let it sit for 30 minutes before flushing with hot water.
Safety Tips
- Always wear gloves and eye protection when handling cleaning chemicals.
- Test any homemade cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area of the surface before using it on a larger area.
- Do not mix bleach with other cleaning products, as this can create harmful fumes.
