Accident

An accident is an unanticipated incident, which has the tendency to change the smooth running of a system. It does not ring a warning bell. It happens when it is least expected. An accident may be common or major. Examples of a common accident are road traffic accident, collapsed building, gas or kerosene explosion, flooding, burning, air accidents, etc.

Traffic regulation

They are rules that are made to control the movement of vehicles and human being on the road in other to avoid road accident.

Causes of road accidents
  1. Poor road network.
  2. Reckless driving.
  3. Over speeding and excessive speeding.
  4. Night driving with poor vision.
  5. Poor weather condition.
  6. Alcoholism or drunkenness while driving.
  7. The tiredness of part of the driver.
  8. Under-age children with no basic training in driving.
  9. Illiteracy and poor knowledge of road signs and highway codes.
  10. Head-on collision.
Traffic rules and regulation
  1. Obedience to a traffic light:
  • Red light means stop
  • The yellow light means ready to go
  • The green light means go
  1. Do not drink while driving.
  2. All potential driver is expected to undergo basic training in driving and pass all prescribed test before being.
  3. Use the seat belt while driving.
  4. Do not make or receive calls while driving.
  5. The car is not expected to pass through the pedestrian road.
  6. The car is expected to stop for a pedestrian to pass when on the zebra crossing.
Consequences of disobeying traffic rules and regulation
  1. Loss of property.
  2. Loss of loved ones.
  3. Traffic hold-up.
  4. Loss of part of the body.
  5. Damage of vehicle.
Prevention of accident

Obedience of traffic rules and regulation will prevent loss and damage of property, bodily injuries, and permanent disability and lives.

Agency to consult when an accident occurs
  1. Federal road safety commission(FRSC)
  2. The police
  3. Fire brigade
  4. Red cross society
  5. Hospital accident and emergency unit or ambulance.
