HELLO, WELCOME BACK TO CLASS
In previous classes, we learnt how to multiply a number by a 1 digit or 2-digit number. In this lesson, we will focus on multiplying a 3-digit number by a 3-digit number.
Example: Multiply 543 by 278
Solution: (i)
(a) 278 = 8 + 70 + 200
(b) 543 × 8 = 4344
(c) 543 × 70 = 38010
(d) 543 × 200 = 108600
Example 2: Multiply 827 × 107
Solution: (i)

Solution:
We can add 56 sheets 24 times
OR
Since multiplication is repeated addition, we can multiply 56 and 24 to get the answer.
- 24 folders each has 56 sheets of paper inside them. How many sheets of paper are there altogether?
Therefore, altogether there are 1344 sheets.
- A carton holds 24 packets of biscuits. Each packet has 12 biscuits. How many biscuits can be packed in 45 cartons?
