TOPIC: CLASSIFICATION OF FARM ANIMALS BASED ON HABITAT
In the last lesson we learnt the classification of farm animals based on if they give birth to young ones alive or they lay eggs. In today’s lesson, we will be looking at classification of farm animals based on habitat.
Every plant and every animal has a habitat. The place where an animal or a plant lives and grows is its habitat. A habitat is where an animal finds food, water and shelter that it needs to live.
ACTIVITY
Mention the things that plants and animals need to grow and live?
Classification of farm animals based on habitat
The habitat of an animal is its natural home. There are two major types of habitat, one pertains to land and is called terrestrial habitat and the other pertains to water and is called aquatic habitat.
Most farm animals live on land. They feed and breed there. Examples are the cow, pig, poultry and cattle. Some other farm animals live in water.
They feed and breed there. An example is fish.
So, based on classification according to habitat, there are two classes of farm animals: land-living and water-living animals.
EVALUATION

- When animals are grouped based on their habitat, how many groups do we have?
