What is air?

Air is a mixture of gases most especially oxygen which is required for breathing. It is a colourless, odourless and tasteless mixture of gases.

 

PROPERTIES OF AIR

  1. Air has weight
  2. It occupies space
  3. It is present everywhere
  4. Air is compressible
  5. Air can expand
  6. It support burning
  7. Air moves, i.e. wind

 

AIR PRESSURE (USES)

  1. Air pressure helps aeroplane to fly easily
  2. It helps birds when flying
  3. It helps in the propulsion of rocket
  4. It help human when using parachute to land safely from air
  5. Wind mill used the wind by air pressure to generate electricity.

NOTE: Pressure is the force applied to a unit area of surface.

Pressure is measured in pascals or atmosphere.

 

GENERAL EVALUATION

  1. Identify the common characteristics of air
  2. Explain why things move in air.
  3. Demonstrate air pressure on every projects.
