Schools Reopen on Monday In Lagos, Ondo And Osun

Public and Private schools reopen

All public and private schools reopen on Monday, November 2, 2020. This have been approved by states governments of Lagos, Ondo and Osun.

However, boarding students in Lagos public schools are resuming on Sunday, November 1, 2020.

The three states schools were shut because of violence that trailed in #EndSARS protests with loss of lives and properties.

According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, said 2020 has been an unfriendly year with all its happenings that led to consecutive schools closure with learning disruptions faced by all students. Hence, we look forward to seeing both public and private schools reopen on Monday.

She said that “We pray and hope that there will be no more disruptions in the academic calendar. However, the state government will always regard the safety of pupils/students, parents and all staff as a matter of priority.

“We recommend that when schools resume on Monday, teaching and learning should continue unhindered till the end of the term,” she added.

Also, the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Femi Agagu, in a statement, said the state governor ordered all schools to resume on Monday.

“Mr Governor has directed that all schools should resume on Monday November 2, 2020 now that the state has become peaceful. Parents and the public are to note this directive and all schools are to comply,” he said.

The Osun State Government also directed that public and private the extended term of 2019/2020 academic session should be completed within the space of one week, beginning from Monday.

The Coordinating Director of Osun State Ministry of Education, Kehinde Olaniyan, said on Thursday, that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has approved a week extension of the third term.

He said “Consequent upon the extension approval, the current term will no longer end on the October 30, 2020, but will now terminate on November 6, 2020.
