A judge is a person who settles quarrels between people. He decides who is right or wrong after listening to them. After the death of Joshua, the people of Israel were ruled by judges. They were honest people who fear God. They do not take bribe or cheat people.
The names of judges in Israel
Before the people of Israel started to have kings to rule them, they had fifteen judges namely:

- Deborah
- Gideon
- Abimelech
- Tola
- Jair
- Jephtha
- Ibzan
- elon
- Abdon
- Samson
- Eli
- Samuel
