In today’s Information Technology class, we will be talking about the Meaning of a Computer System
Meaning of a Computer System
A computer system is one that is able to take a set of inputs, process them and create a set of outputs. This is done by a combination of hardware and software. Computer systems will include the computer along with any software and other devices that are necessary to make the computer function.
Computer system is composed of several components. Some of the more common components are the motherboard, processor, memory and hard drive. All components of a computer system are contained in the computer case. Some of the lesser known components are the power supply, video card, sound card and optical drive.
We can define a computer as an electronic device used to perform instructions at an extremely fast and accurate rate of speed. Computers are used in many areas of our lives for work and recreation.
The System Unit of the Computer
The system unit is the computer itself. This includes all internal components and the computer’s case. It does not include external devices or peripherals such as the keyboard, monitor, mouse, or printer.
