What is Art work?
Our minds quickly jump to things like Museum, paintings and all sorts when we hear the word Art. Some even think that it just for intellectual people because they are not a big fan of Art. But Art is for everyone that wants to experience it and it often in more places than we realize. For examples the song you listen to, the movies you watch, all of that and more is art.
So, you might wonder what then is Art?
Art has been around for thousands of years and through the ages it has involved in several things and the reasons are enormous or personal to a person. To define art is pretty tricky and has been debated throughout history because there isn’t just one agreed upon definition. However, many believes art is anything that shows emotions. Now emotions can stir up depends on your history, story and everything that comes up to become who you are and because of this, different people can experience the same thing piece of art but have different reactions. One person might hate it, another love it and the last person should feel neither. Inspite of these, they are all right because they all have their choice and preferences.
I know many of us love when our pictures are painted or when sculpture is made for artworks. However, are these artworks?
Yes, they are part art work.
Artwork are drawings and photographs that are prepared in order to be included in something such as a book or advertisement. It is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts or artworks, in other to express the author’s imaginative, conceptual ideas, emotions or technical skill, intended to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
We all appreciate most artworks around us, most especially in our community. We are most of the times amazed by such beautiful arts that we see, either through painting, sculptures or photographs.
The oldest documented forms of art are visual arts, which include images or objects in fields like painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and other visual media. While Architecture is often included as one of the visual arts; however, like the decorative arts, it involves the creation of objects where the practical considerations of use are essential, in a way that they usually are not in another visual art, like a painting. Art may be characterized in terms of imitation, expression, communication of emotion, or other qualities.
Forms of Art
There are different forms of art and these include;
- Literature: They are poetry, drama, story, and so on
- The visual arts: They are painting, drawing, sculpture, etc
- The graphic arts examples are painting, drawing, design, and other forms expressed on flat surfaces
- The plastic arts examples sculpture and modeling
- The decorative arts: These are the enamelwork, furniture design, mosaic, etc.
- The performing arts: These are theatre, dance, music, music as composition and architecture (often including interior design).
Illustration is a picture or a drawing or the act of creating the drawing, or is an example used to explain or prove something. An example of an illustration is a picture accompanying a magazine article.
