Quality and Uses of Water

The Importance of Water

Water is often called the “universal solvent” because it can dissolve so many different substances. It’s essential for all living things, including us! Our bodies are about 60% water, and we need it to survive.

Sources of Water

We find water in various places, like rivers, lakes, oceans, and even underground in wells. But not all water is safe to drink or use. Some water sources need to be treated to make them clean and safe.

Water is incredibly versatile, and we use it for many things:

Drinking: We need water to quench our thirst and keep our bodies working correctly. Always remember to drink clean and safe water!

Cooking: Water helps us make yummy food. We use it to boil pasta, steam veggies, and make soups and stews.

Cleaning: We use water to wash our hands, dishes, clothes, and keep our homes tidy.

Farming: Farmers rely on water to grow crops. It’s like a magical ingredient that makes our fruits and veggies grow.

Energy: Water helps generate electricity in some places. Dams use flowing water to turn turbines and create power.

Fun and Games: Water is also for play! We swim, splash, and have water balloon fights on hot summer days.
