Labour is the force employed to get things done in the society. People have different abilities and talents. Some are doctors, teachers, and engineers, among others. Working people make up the labour force of the country in which they live.
Trade union is an association of workers protecting their interest in an organization. In Nigeria, the largest trade union is called the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
Workers interests or concerns include things like
- Fair play
- Safe working conditions
- Protection against unfair dismissal
- Leave
When union feel that workers’ demands are not being met or that they are being treated unfairly, they may go on strike. A strike is when workers refuse to go to work
