The following characteristics or qualities are displayed by drug abusers. These are:

Abuser of Alcohol

  • Aggressiveness
  • Tremor such as shaking of the hands
  • Hallucination/slowed speech
  • Inability to maintain balance
  • Excessive sweating
  • Strong smell of alcohol

Abuser of Tobacco

  • Smell of tobacco
  • Stained and discoloured fingers, lips and teeth
  • Incessant coughing
  • Breathlessness
  • Untidy appearance

Abuser of Cannabis

  • Very mellow and untroubled
  • Hallucination
  • False sense of pleasure
  • Animated or excited

Abuser of Cocaine

  • Nervousness
  • Loss of appetite
  • Itchy skin
  • Frequent nose bleeds
  • Animated or excited
  • Punctured marks from needles (for those who inject it into their veins)

 

Abuser of Heroin

  • Tiny pupil
  • Excessive or abnormal happiness
  • Pain
  • Shivering when not on the drug
