It can be defined as an electronic machine that accepts, process and gives results called OUTPUT.

It can be used for many purposes which include:
- Oil Exploration.
- Controlling traffic.
- Monitoring flying of aeroplanes i.e in aviation.
- Drawing pictures and diagrams.
- Editing films.
- For music production.
- Generally for entertainment.
- Storing and updating data.
Applications
By application, it means the areas where it can be applied or used.
- Schools.
- Hospitals.
- Banks.
- At home.
- Companies.
- Government parastatals.
- Information and Communication Technology.
