Information and communications technology (ICT)
It is an extensional term for information technology (IT) that stresses the role of unified communications and the integration of telecommunications (telephone lines and wireless signals) and computers, as well as necessary enterprise software, middleware, storage, and audio-visual systems, that enable users to access, store, transmit, and manipulate information.
Uses of ICT
1. Source of information:
With the help of a search engine like Google, Bing, and Yandex, it becomes a source of information. Many people search on this search engine each time, every second, every minute, hour, day, weeks, month and year.
Every day people want to know information about what they want to find. They search on the box of what they are interesting and they get information coming from the internet.
The major uses of ICT in education are to inform the people wanting to be informed. The current events happening in the surroundings that we should know to be aware always every time and whenever where we are.
2. Way of communication:
ICT in education helps us in communication. When somebody has relatives, friends, classmates, co-worker, or member of the family that is living or staying far away from them, the ICT is one of the medium, one of the ways of communication.
Through social media like Facebook, Twitter, Skype, or any social media people can communicate with each other. People from far places can talk to each other with the help of camera In-front of the phone or webcam they can see each other life and on real-time.
With the help of these people will lessen the miss of each other. When you miss somebody you will feel incomplete, lonely. That feeling you are happy and no problem but you feel incomplete because the one you love is far from you.
3. Serve as a guide:
The ICT is not just informing but also guiding. When you want to know something and you want to do it, you will find someone to help you. But if you could not find, then you will go to search on the internet. That is another use of ICT in education.
You will go to search for steps or ways of how to do it. There is information and also guides to do it. When you search and find how to do, there are steps and ways to do it. This way you have a guide to doing it well and accurately.
4. Teach us a lesson:
When you read on the internet or social media there are many lessons you can learn, from the blogs and post of the people on social media. People are creative and smart.
They post so that people will inform but people posting great information especially coming from their experience is a great way of learning. This teaches a lesson to the people who read it.
The lesson from the post will remember if this is imperative. When people are in touch of the post like a story, they will be inspired and they will be an inspiration coming from it.
5. An advantage in learning:
ICT makes learning more advance. Students can learn in a more advance platform. The learning can see and more colourful. The benefits of ICT have a better impact on education on the students and the part of teachers.
The spreading of information becomes easier. We can use social media and spread information and everyone can read and be informed. Unlike before, being informed is a little bit more hard compare to now a day.
