ADDITION OF NUMBER LINE
In the use of number line, a positive (+) move is to the right and a negative (-) move is to the left.
EXAMPLE1:
Solve the following on the number line.
- 2 + 3 -3 + 5
Solution: 2 + 3 simply means starting from 2 and move 3 steps to right, the number where it stops is the answer.
Therefore, 2 + 3 = 5
- -3 + 5 simply means starting from -3 and move 5 steps to right, the number where it stops is the answer.
Therefore, -3 + 5 = 2
