Welcome to class.
Anything that is capable of doing work has energy. A person pushing a car along a road is doing work on the car. The person is said to possess energy which he exercises by making the car move some distance.
Also, just like a student running around the school field has energy. He or She is capable of moving his weight some distance. A footballer player, a farm labourer, a palm wine tapper climbing a palm tree and a mango tree all possess energy.
Both work and energy are measured in the same unit, the joule.
Energy is the ability to do work. We need energy to wash our clothes, work in the farm, carry load, cook our food walk and bathe.

- boy lifting a box
- A boy drawing water from a well
Evaluation
- Move your chairs from one place to another. If you can do this, it shows that you are expressing some energy
