Hello children, welcome back to class
SUBTOPIC: ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION OF COINS AND NOTES
In the last lesson, we were able to see the different denominations of the Nigerian currency in Naira and Kobo.
Like we can add and subtract numbers we can also add and subtract money. We will also be needing our counters.
ACTIVITY
Solve the following
1. 5k + 2K =
- 12K + 6K =
- 25K + 10K =
- 50K – 15K =
- 20K – 8K =
We can also add and subtract notes using the same addition and subtraction skills we have learnt before now.
Examples
- N20 – N5 = N15 ( 20 Naira – 5 Naira = 15 Naira)
- N5 – N3 = N2
We can also shop with money and get a balance after buying items from shops.
Example
- I have 50K. I bought 35K sweets. What balance would I collect from the shop owner? 50K – 35K = 15K. So I will collect a balance of 15K
