Social Issues and Problems (Cultism)
Cultism can be defined as ritual practices by a group of people whose membership, admission, practice and initiation and mode of operation are done in the secret. Cultism is a major social issue and problem especially in this part of Africa.
There are several reasons why this problem persists and we will share some of them in this note.

Causes of cultism
- Poor home background.
- Peer group influence.
- Exposure to foreign value.
- The proliferation of arms.
- Drug/substance abuse.
- Poor leadership.
- Failure of the justice system to protect the vulnerable ones
Consequences of cultism
- Breakdown of law and order
- Breakdown of social value.
- Criminal tendencies.
- Moral decadence.
Solution to cultism
- Abiding by the rules and the regulation.
- Having faith in God.
- Knowledge is an antidote to any form of confrontation.
- Punishment for arrested cultists.
- Parents should select films for their children.
- Academic institutions should employ the services of experts in guidance and counselling.
- Wealthy individuals and the government should stop using money, power, and their position to recruit thugs and militants.
- Corrupt practices should be stopped through due process.
