From our last class, we learned that Recreation plays an important role in physical education because all events of physical education are dependent upon recreation. In recreation, a sportsperson recreates himself to a particular event before starting any event. In recreation, people recreationally learn about an event. 

Learn with me the types of Recreation we have in Physical Education. 

Types of Recreation

  • Indoor Recreational Activities– Those activities that are performed inside the house, hall, or generally under a roof.

  1. Ludo
  2. Table tennis
  3. Badminton
  4. Dart
  5. Scrabble
  6. Monopoly
  7. Drawing
  8. Painting
  9. Sewing/ knitting
  10. Playing Piano
  11. Dancing
  12. Chess
  13. Ayo
  14. Snake and ladders
  15. Playing cards
  16. Watching television
  17. Squash
  • Outdoor Recreational Activities– These are those activities that are performed outside or in the open air. Outdoor recreation centers could be parks, picnics, sports fields, or outside the house within the compound.

  4. Rowing a boat
  5. Fishing
  6. Skipping
  7. Mountaineering
  8. Horse riding
  9. Hunting
  10. Hopscotch

  16. Hiking
  17. Tennis
  18. Golf
  19. Excursion
  20. Picnicking etc

 

In summary, Recreational activities can be communal or solitary, active or passive, outdoors or indoors, healthy or harmful, and useful for society or detrimental.
