Animal As Living Things

Welcome to class.

Both plants and animals (including humans) are good examples of living things, so they possess the listed characteristics.

Animals are regarded as living things because of the following reasons

Animals can move from one place to another. This is called MOVEMENT

2. Animal can produce their young ones by the process called REPRODUCTION

3. Animals can feel the sense of touch. This is called IRRITABILITY

4. Animals can grow from baby to adult. This is called GROWTH

5. Animals can get rid themselves of waste products, such as: urine, sweat, faeces, fart etc. this is called EXCRETION

6. Animals take in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide in the process called respiration.

7. When an animals grows to a certain age. It dies. This is known as DEATH

8. Animals depends on plants for their food. Animals that feed on plant is called HERBIVORES (e.g goat), while animals that feed on animal are called CARNIVORES (lion, dog) and those that feed on both plant and animal are called OMNIVORES (e.g. man). This process is known as NUTRITION.
