Welcome to class.
Technology refers to the things created by humans, such as machines, and the knowledge used to create them. It is the process of applied knowledge and creativity. Technology required application of scientific knowledge. Things created by human that can make our lives easier or solve problems are also referred to as Technology
Examples of technology includes: DSTV, mobile phone, microphone, television, ship, airplane etc. our society is constantly changing due to improvement in technology.
Technology means to simplify the way we do things in our daily lives. It is designed with a purpose of solving problems. Technology is developed by humans, so we can use it to accomplish almost every task. If technology is wrongly applied it can be harmful in so many ways.
FORMS OF TECHNOLOGY
There are two forms of technology. They are:
- Underdeveloped technology
- Developed technology
Underdeveloped technologies are olden days technology. They are of low profile. They are technology used in the olden days; they require more effort for their operation. E.g. hoe, cutlass for farming, stones for making fire, horse for transportation, town criers and letter posting for dissemination of information.
Developed technology: are modern days technology. It is improved product of the application of science. They may perform the same functions as the underdeveloped technology but in a more sophisticated way. Modern technologies are of high profile. We are surrounded by examples of modern technology every day. Examples include: tractors and harvesters for farming, ship and airplane for transportation, lighter for making fire, use of internet, cellphone and computer for communication, etc.
