Extensive and Independent Reading

Choosing Your Adventure:

Choosing Your Adventure

Imagine you’re in a library with shelves filled with books. You get to pick the one that speaks to you the most. What genre or topic are you drawn to? Adventure, mystery, fantasy, or something else?

Delving into Stories:

Open the book you’ve chosen and let the words transport you to a different place and time. As you read, picture the scenes and characters in your mind. It’s like watching a movie in your imagination!

Reflecting on Characters:

Reflecting on Characters

As you read, think about the characters. What do they look like? How do they act? Can you relate to them in any way?

Predicting and Imagining:

Pause during your reading and make predictions about what might happen next. Use your imagination to visualize the scenes. Can you imagine yourself in the story?

Exploring New Vocabulary:

Exploring New Vocabulary

You might come across words you don’t know. Don’t worry, it’s all part of the adventure! Use context clues to figure out their meanings or look them up. You’re building your vocabulary treasure!

Sharing Your Adventure:

After you’ve read a chapter or a story, share your thoughts with a friend or family member. Discuss what you liked, the characters you met, and the exciting moments you experienced.

Evaluation and Questions:

What’s the most exciting part of reading for you? Is it discovering new worlds, meeting characters, or something else?

Weekend Reading Quest:

Over the weekend, dive into a book and read a few chapters. Imagine you’re the main character and experience the story through their eyes.

We have come to the end of today’s class. I hope you enjoyed the class!
