Let’s Begin:

Imagine we’re like sound magicians! 🎩✨ We’re going to learn how to make those special vowel and diphthong sounds appear in words and sentences. Ready to work your magic? Let’s do this!

Producing Vowel Sounds: A, E, I, O, U:

Remember our special vowel friends? Let’s practice saying them in words and sentences:

“a” like in “apple.” Try: “I saw an apple.” 🍎

“e” like in “elephant.” Your turn: “The elephant is big.” 🐘

“i” like in “igloo.” Say: “The igloo is cold.” ❄️

“o” like in “octopus.” Repeat: “The octopus has eight legs.” 🐙

“u” like in “umbrella.” Can you do it? “I like colorful umbrellas.” ☔

Producing Diphthongs: /) i/ and /ea/:

Now, let’s add a bit of diphthong dazzle to our words and sentences:

/) i/ like in “boy.” Say: “The boy jumps high.” 👦

/ea/ like in “air.” Try: “The fresh air feels nice.” 💨

Words and Sentences:

Imagine you’re telling a story with your words:

“The playful boy finds joy in toys.” 🧸

“She can wear her favorite pair of shoes.” 👟

“We see a rainbow in the clear air.” 🌈

Pretend you’re on a fun adventure. Say, “Fly with me in the sky” using our diphthongs /) i/ and /ea/. Great job, adventurers!

Remember, phonics is like our word toolkit. Today, we used our toolkit to create vowel and diphthong sounds in words and sentences. You’re becoming true word wizards!

Evaluation:

Can you tell me a sentence with the word “igloo” and another with “umbrella”? You’re nailing these sounds!

Over the weekend, read a story with your family. Listen for the vowel and diphthong sounds. How many can you find this time?
