NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES

Non-communicable diseases are diseases that cannot be transmitted from one person to another. They are non-infectious health conditions and last for a long period of time. They have many causes but are never caused by germs, bacteria or other living things that can attack the body.

Causes of Non-Communicable Diseases
  • Physiological failure of the tissues:
  1. Rheumatism
  2. Heart attack
  3. Epilepsy
  4. Stroke
  5. Migraine
  6. Cataract
  7. Cancer
  • Chemical or atomic fallout:
  1. Snakebite
  2. Cough from smoke
  3. Stomach ulcer
  4. Allergies
  5. Asthma
  • Malnutrition or dietary imbalance:
  1. Marasmus
  2. Pellagra
  3. Anaemia
  4. Goitre
  5. Kwashiorkor
  6. Cirrhosis

  • Congenital or hereditary problem:
  1. Hare’s lip
  2. Crossed eyes
  3. Epilepsy
  4. Retarded brain
  5. Birthmark and other deformities.
  • Brain damage or emotional disturbances:
  1. Paranoia
  2. Anxiety
  3. Neurosis
  4. Schizophrenia
  5. Phobias
  6. Psychosis
  7. Hypochondria
Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases
  1. Regular exercises
  2. Avoiding unhealthy diets
  3. Avoiding harmful use of alcohol
  4. Avoid smoking
  5. Raising awareness about non-communicable diseases.
