Rules and Regulations of  Tennis

  1. When serving, do not touch the baseline.
  2. A served ball hitting the net before falling into the right service court is called LET.
  3. A player loses the point if he throws the racket at the ball.
  4. A ball is not played until it hits the ground.
  5. A player loses a point if he touches the net with any part of his body or racket.

Facilities and Equipment

  1. The court
  2. The racket
  3. Ball
  4. Net
  5. Clothing: tennis shoe, t-shirt, shorts and a pair of socks. Other accessories such as sweatband, headband, etc. are acceptable.

Officials of Tennis

  1. Umpire: he oversees the match. He calls the scores point by point.
  2. Net cord judge: he assists the umpire by indicating when the ball is out of play.
  3. Foot fault judge: he watches the feet of the serving player to detect foot fault.
  4. Ball boys: they help in retrieving all balls that have gone out of the court.

  1. Ace
  2. Rally
  3. Let
  4. Volley
  5. Fault
  6. Double fault
  7. Love
  8. Lob
