Welcome to class.
The sense organ we use for feeling is our skin. All parts of our body are covered with skin so as to have the sense of touch or feeling. Skin is like a wrapping that keeps everything inside our bodies. Examples are hands and feet.
We feel pain with our skin when we are injured either by a cut on the hand or by a nail pinch on the foot.
We feel things through our skin and hands. We learn about the world through touch. Our touch sense can tell us if something is hot or cold. Somethings that we touch are good for our skin but other things can be bad for our skin. Our skin is sensitive. Some things that we touch feel good, some things are dangerous to touch and some things feel strange or funny to touch and that we have hair growing out of our skin. Sometimes when we are cold our skin gets bumps and our hair stands up straight. We call these goose bumps.
Our sense of feeling can be divided into:
- Cold or warm
- Soft or hard
- Smooth or rough
- Light or heavy
- Sharp or blunt
IMPORTANCE OF SKIN
