THE EPISTLES OF PAUL (I)

  1. Major communities visited by Paul during his missionary work (Acts 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18…)

The missionary work of Paul took him to major communities like Antioch then they moved to Cyrus. In Cyrus, they travelled from the port of Salamis to Paphos on the opposite shore of Cyprus. From Cyprus he travelled to Asia Minor where he visited Perga in Pamphylia.

He also visited Iconium then Lystra. In Lystra, Paul and Barnabas were seen as gods and some priest brought out bulls to sacrifice to them. From Lystra, they headed to Derbe.

From Derbe, they headed to Lystra then Phrygia and Galatia.  From Galatia, as they were heading towards Troas when Paul had a night vision where he saw a man begging them to come over to Macedonia. So, they left for Macedonia. From Macedonia to Thessalonica and then to Berea. From Berea, they went to Athens and Corinth. From Corinth to Ephesus and Caeserea.

 

  1. Reasons Paul wrote Epistles

Paul wrote the epistles for the following reasons:

  1. He wrote the epistles to encourage the church in which he had laboured so diligently.
  2. He wrote the epistles to teach the early church the doctrines of Christ
  3. He wrote the epistles to strengthen the faith  of the new believers

 

MORAL LESSONS

  1. Paul was an ardent lover of God
  2. Paul preached in major communities even in the face of death
  3. God expects me to serve Him even in the face of death, trials, hardship etc
  4. Paul was passionate about getting souls saved and established that he wrote epistles to that effect.
  5. God expects me to be passionate about His kingdom on earth like Paul.
