What is a career?

A career is the type of work, job or profession that you have been trained for and which you do for a long period of your life. A career is not just one job that a person does. Instead, it is the title he or she has earned or the work he or she has accomplished.

• Different types of career (11 Thessalonians 3:6-13)

There are different types of careers. For example

1. Carpentry
2. Welding
3. Engineering
4. Tailoring
5. Catering
6. Farming
7. Teaching
8. Nursing
9. Sailing
10. Mining
11. Embroidery
12. Catering
13. Event planning
14. Hair dressing
15. Flying planes

 

• Dignity of labour (James 2:17-20)

Dignity of labour means giving respect to all jobs and treating them equally without a feeling that a particular job is greater or better that another.  Dignity of labour involves working hard and steadily on the task chosen for a living and not being idle at all.

 

The importance of dignity of labour includes the following:

1. It brings about happiness
2. It brings about satisfaction
3. It gives one confidence and boldness
4. It makes one to be respected
5. It sets us as good examples because we are doing the right thing.

 

                      MORAL LESSONS

1. It is good to have a career as a person
2. Having a career makes one to be respected by others
3. Having a career makes one to be happy
4. It gives one satisfaction
5. Having a career eradicate poverty.
