- The right attitude to money. (Luke 12:15, 1 Timothy 6:6-14)
The right attitude simply means using for the right things. As earlier discussed, money is used to advance the kingdom of God and to help other. Money should be worshipped as a god. When money is worshipped, it becomes difficult to give others. Many people are so covetous that they commit crime to get money. Be contented with what you have as long as we have food to eat and clothes to wear. When the love of money is excessive, evil becomes rampant and some Christians lose their faith.
- Dangers of excessive love of money and wealth. (2 Kings 5: 1-27)
Excessive love of money and wealth can be dangerous. Gehazi, the servant of Elisha had excessive love for money and wealth. He coveted after the money and wealth of Naaman whom his master healed of leprosy. Elisha did not accept the gift and money from Naaman, after healing him. So Gehazi was displeased with the reason why Elisha did not accept so he decided to lie to Naaman that Elisha had changed his mind and wanted the gift. Meanwhile his master Elisha had seen all that Gehazi had done. He cursed him and afflicted him with leprosy even to his generation. Excessive love of money can lead to corruption, theft, murder, cybercrime, kidnapping etc. When one is caught, one can be imprisoned, sent to jail or even killed.
