Responsibilities of parents to their children

Parents have certain responsibilities they should perform for their children or their wards. These responsibilities include the following:

Feeding: Parents and guardians are to provide food for their children and wards so that they do not go hungry.
Clothing: Parents are to buy clothes for their children.
Shelter: It is the duty of parents to provide a house where their children will live.
Protection: It is the duty of parents to protect their children. They should make them feel safe and secure.
Education: Parents are to pay their children’s school fees and buy books for them. They should ensure their children have sound education.
Moral education/training: Parents are to train their children morally. They should teach those social rules and polite behaviour in society.
Religious upbringing: It is the responsibility of parents to bring their children up to fear God. Religious training is important, as it will make them have focus in life.
Guidance and counselling: Parents should guide and counsel their children on what to do. Children depend on parents for guidance so as not to make costly mistakes in life.

Responsibilities of children to their parents

Children and wards also have responsibilities to their parents and guardians.

These responsibilities include the following:

They run errands for their parents.
They perform household chores such as washing of plates and sweeping the house.
Older children look after their younger siblings, especially when the parents are busy or are not available.
Children must be obedient to their parents, or else the sound training, which should form the foundation of their lives, will be missing, and such children will not be useful to themselves and society.
