Welcome to class!
In today’s class, we will be talking about the creation story. Enjoy the class!
The Creation Story
God created the earth and heaven. He created both living things and non- living things. He performs the creation in six days and the seventh day he rested.
- The first day God created the light.
- The second day God created air and sky.
- The third day God created the land
- The fourth day God created sun and moon.
- The fifth day God created birds, water, and animals.
- The sixth day God created man and named him Adam.
God called the creation good and rested on the seventh day God rested.
The creation account can be found in Genesis 1 and 2. The language of the genesis account made it clear that all creation was formed from nothing.
The second account in Genesis chapter 2. God created heaven and earth, the animals, the sun, the moon, the stars. Then he formed man from the dust of the earth and breathe the breath of life into his nostrils and man become a ling being. God now planted trees in the garden that are pleasant to the sight and good for food.
There were four rivers in the garden called Eden. God put a man in the garden to keep and dress it. He also commanded man, saying “of every tree of the garden you may eat freely, but the trees of knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die”.
Later God saw that it would not be good for man to live alone so he made Adam sleep deeply. God removed one of his ribs, which was used to create the woman. The woman was brought to Adam who named her Eve, both of them now lived as husband and wife in the garden of Eden. Adam also gave names to everything created by God. God created human being to know him as God to worship and serve him and represent God.
The value of creation: the creation story has a great religious value. All living and non-living things have a beginning except God. God has been in existence before heaven and earth were created.
In our next class, we will be talking about the Reason God Created Human. We hope you enjoyed the class.
