The Birth of Jesus

Welcome back to class!

This is!  Today we sharing on the birth of Christ.

God made preparation for the birth of Jesus because He wanted to save mankind from sin through Jesus Christ. This was necessary because of the sin of Adam and Eve which led to the breakdown of the good relationship between God and man.

God needed to restore the broken relationship and so in the Old Testament, God sent prophet Isaiah to announce the birth of Jesus saying, Behold, a young woman (virgin) shall conceive and bear a son, and His name shall be called Emmanuel which means “GOD IS WITH US”.

The Announcement of the Birth of Jesus in the New Testament(Mathew 1:22-23 and Luke 1:28-33)

In the New Testament, the announcement of the birth of Jesus was made by angel Gabriel to Mary.

Mary was a young Jewish woman who lived with her parents in Nazareth. She was a virgin and was righteous before God and she was engaged to be married to Joseph who was from the house of David.

One day Angel Gabriel told Mary that she would be the Mother of Jesus but Mary doubted the message because she was a virgin. The angel told her that the Holy Spirit would come upon her and that the power of the Most High would overshadow her and as a result, the child that would be born would be called Holy, the Son of God, and this actually happened according to the words spoken by the angel to Mary.

While Mary and Joseph were engaged, Joseph discovered she was pregnant; he planned to divorce her quietly.

In the night Angel Gabriel appeared to him and explained everything about the pregnancy of Mary. The angel then said what was happening was the fulfilment of the prophecy of Isaiah. “Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel (which means: God is with us).”

When Joseph woke up he was sorry for his action and he accepted Mary.

The Story of the Birth of Jesus (Mathew 1: 18-25, Luke 2: 1-7)

In the eight-month of Mary’s pregnancy, the Roman Emperor, Caesar Augustus issued an order that everyone should go back to his/her town to be counted, so Mary and Joseph travelled to Bethlehem for a census when she was about to deliver.

When Joseph and Mary got to Bethlehem, all the inn and rest houses had been occupied, so Jesus was born in a Manger and He was wrapped in swaddling clothes and placed in a manger.
