Examples of those Jesus Raised from the Dead

Jesus is the Son of God who came to earth to save us from our sins and to show us His love. He also did many amazing things, called miracles, that proved He has power over everything. Some of these miracles involved bringing people back to life who had died. These miracles show us that Jesus has power over death, and that He can give us eternal life if we believe in Him.

Examples of People Jesus Raised from the Dead

The Bible tells us about three people that Jesus raised from the dead. They are:

The widow’s son at Nain: Jesus was walking to a town called Nain with His disciples and a large crowd. As He approached the town gate, He saw a funeral procession. A widow’s only son had died, and she was very sad. Jesus felt sorry for her and said, “Don’t cry.” He touched the coffin and said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” And the dead man sat up and began to talk. Jesus gave him back to his mother. Everyone was amazed and praised God. (Luke 7:11-17)

Jairus’ daughter: Jairus was a synagogue leader who had a daughter who was dying. He came to Jesus and begged Him to come and heal her. Jesus agreed and went with him. But on the way, someone came and said, “Your daughter is dead. Don’t bother the teacher anymore.” Jesus heard this and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” He went to the house and saw the mourners. He said, “She is not dead but asleep.” He took the girl by the hand and said, “Little girl, get up!” And she got up and walked. Jesus told her parents to give her something to eat. They were astonished and overjoyed. (Luke 8:40-56).

Jesus' Power Over Disease and Death

Lazarus: Lazarus was the brother of Mary and Martha, who were friends of Jesus. He was sick, and his sisters sent a message to Jesus, saying, “Lord, the one you love is sick.” But Jesus did not go right away. He said, “This sickness will not end in death. It is for God’s glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” He waited two more days, and then He said, “Let us go back to Judea.” He told His disciples, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.” When He arrived, He found that Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. Martha came out to meet Him and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” He went to the tomb and said, “Take away the stone.” He then prayed to the Father and said, “Lazarus, come out!” And the dead man came out, wrapped in grave clothes. Jesus said, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.” Many people who saw this believed in Jesus. (John 11:1-44)

 What We Learn

– Jesus is powerful: He can bring people back to life who have died. He has authority over death and can overcome it.

– Jesus is loving: He cares for those who are grieving and wants to comfort them. He also wants to give them hope and joy.

– Jesus is the resurrection and the life: He said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26) He proved this by rising from the dead Himself. He offers us eternal life if we trust in Him.
