In today’s Religious and National Values class, we will be focusing on Revision of First Term’s Work

Revision 

As students, if there is a moment that you can look forward to to refresh your memory before writing your exams, is the Revision period. And because Revision is a very important step in fostering adequate preparations for examinations, it is important to enjoy it.

Let’s take a look at some of the topics we’ve covered so far. 

Living in the Family 

Members of the Family

Living in the family can include a child with both parents – mother and father, including brothers and sisters or a father and mother and other relatives.

Let’s take a look at what a family is. 

A family is a group of two or more persons related by birth, marriage, or adoption who live together.

Some members of the family include:

  1. Father
  2. Mother
  3. Children
  4. Uncles
  5. Aunts
  6. Relations

A Nuclear family is that type of family that consists of father, mother and children, while an extended family consists of father, mother, children and relatives. Examples include grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and inlaws.

Importantly, living in the family requires some things that are important. Because families living together have the following:

  • They love one another
  • They have great concern and interest for one another
  • They protect and defend one another
  • They protect the family name
  • They have a sense of belonging.

In summary, a family is a group of two or more persons related by birth, marriage, or adoption who live together and have love, respect and peace between one another.

Definition of Governance

Sometimes we hear people say, the governance system in Africa is bad. Other times people say, “we want good governance.”

What do they mean by these? Let’s learn!

Governance is the system by which an organization is controlled and operates, and the way by which it and its people are held to account.

Governance is also a type of system whereby a group of people make decisions that affect the state or organizations. This means it takes more than one person for it to be considered governance. 

Good governance is the process that ensures accountability, transparency, responsiveness, rule of law, stability, empowerment and home and abroad participation

In summary, Governance allows a group of people to make decisions that affect the state or organizations, which must be transparent, fair, stable, according to the law and beneficial to the people.

Security is the state of being free from danger, threat or crime.

Neighborhood  also known as a community, is a place or area where people live as a community.

It is common for people living in a community or area to seek after security of lives and their properties, and one of the ways they can do this is through Neighborhood Security. 

A community security personnel known as Neighborhood Security, helps to protect the entire community from crime. Neighborhood security is also called local security personnel.

Neighborhood Security is a group of security who watches over the neighborhood’s properties as a way of preventing crime.

Benefits of neighborhood security

  1. To maintain law and order in the state
  2. To fight crime for a safer neighborhood
  3. To bring light to an important issue in the neighborhood

In summary, Neighborhood Security helps to protect the entire community from crime. Neighborhood security is also called local security personnel.
