TECHNOLOGY IN THE HOME

There are many things we use today that technology has made possible. In the past, there was no electricity, so people could only use sunlight and candles for light.

HOME APPLIANCES

An appliance is a device designed to perform a specific function for household use. When have many electrical appliances in my home. They help us do our work.

In my kitchen, we have an electric kettle and a boiling water. We have a blender for grinding things. Mummy uses an electric iron to iron our clothes. We use the telephone to speak to people who are far away from us.

Safe use of Home Appliances.

Some home appliances can be dangerous, one must handle them with care.

Here are some of the rules in handling home appliances

1. Do not play with electric sockets
2. Be careful around hot objects, such as electric irons and boiling rings
3. Drop electrical appliances in water
4. Do not place electrical appliances in the mouth
5. Do not play with sharp objects such as knives, blades and scissors.

Accidents can happen at home or at school. Sometimes we fall, get burned or get cut by sharp objects. Accidents can be prevented by following the rules of those in authority.

Accidents can be prevented in the playground by removing all dangerous objects from the surroundings. We must never play with dangerous objects.

When accidents happen, we must do the following things:

1. Reports to parents (at home) or teacher (at school)
2. Take the victim to the nearest clinic
3. Remove what has caused the accident.
