Seasons in Nigeria

In Nigeria, there are two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season.

The Dry Season

The Dry season starts in November and ends in March. It is called Harmattan. During Harmattan, a dry wind comes from the Sahara Desert. This wind is called the Harmattan wind. It is usually cold in the morning, but very hot in the afternoon during Harmattan.

The Rainy Season

The rainy season starts in April and ends in November. It rains a lot. The weather is sometimes cloudy and cold. We must use umbrella and raincoats the rainy season the stay dry.

Season Around the World

In many parts of the world, there are four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter.

When it is spring, trees and flowers blossom and it is very beautiful. The weather is warm. After spring comes summer, which is hot. During summer, people spend a lot of time on the beach and wear light clothes.

After the summer season, comes autumn. The leaves on the trees start to fall off during autumn. It is usually very windy and cloudy and it starts getting cold.

It is very cold in winter and sometimes it even snows.
