Jesus prayed to the father.

Jesus prayed to the father.
Prayer means talking to God. Jesus loved His father and communicated with Him often. He prayed for wisdom and guidance. He also prayed for others to come to know Him as their Lord and saviour. He prayed for His disciples. Jesus prayed for God to strengthen their ministry once He leave them. He prayed with joy and praise. But most of all, Jesus prayed with expectation. He knew the Father heard His prayer and would respond.
Reasons why Jesus prayed.
- To show examples to disciples:
Jesus prayed to show examples to His disciples. He encouraged them to have strong belief that anytime they are praying to God. They should believe that whatever they asked God to give them, He will give them if they have faith. Jesus taught His disciples the: Lord’s prayer.
- To honour God:
Jesus prayed to honour God. He praise and thank God for everything He has done for us and what He will continue to do for us. By praising God, He is honouring God.
“Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come”
- To receive power:
Jesus prayed for power in times of anguish. He prayed to His Father to renew His strength.
“And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground” Luke 22:44
Contents of His prayer- Thanks and request.
“Our father in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from all evil.
Moral lessons
- God wants us to pray to Him with faith.
- God wants us to thank Him in our prayers.
- God wants us to honour Him.
- God wants us to pray every time.
