CPC
The Consumer Protection Council, now the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) is the foremost competition and consumer protection authority in Nigeria. The commission was established by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPC) 2018 to, among others, develop and promote fair, efficient and competitive markets in the Nigerian economy, facilitate access by all citizens to safe products, and secure the protection of rights for all consumers in Nigeria.
The vision of FCCPC is to create a market that’s a model for ease, innovation, dynamism, responsiveness and satisfaction. Its mission is to promote a fair and vibrant market while ensuring consumers are the core, not ancillary to business.
Some key areas of the commission’s operation include complaint resolution, surveillance and enforcement, consumer education, as well as research and safety.
Mr. Babatunde Irukera is the Director-General of the commission.
