Concepts of Print

Our mission today is to learn how books work and to say hello to all the letters of the alphabet!

Let`s start!

Parts of a Book

Parts of a Book

Books are like treasure chests of stories and knowledge. They have a front cover, back cover, title, and pages with amazing pictures and words. Let’s open the treasure chest and see what’s inside!

Can you point to the front cover of a book?

What’s the title of your favorite book?

Can you show me the closing page?

Before we continue, I want you to understand that letters are like puzzle pieces that make words. Let’s meet our friends from A to Z and learn how they sound and look. A says “aah,” B says “buh,” C says “cee”!

Can you think of a word that starts with the letter “D”?

From what you have learnt today, you now understand that books have parts that help us read stories. The alphabet has letters that make words.

Class Work:

Draw the front cover of a book and write its title.

Assignment:

I want you to look around your home and find five things that start with different letters. Share your findings with us next week!

This will be the end of today`s class. Hope you enjoyed the class.

In our next class, we shall be discussing Concepts of Print II
