Need For People of Integrity in the Society

In today’s Civic Education class, We will be discussing the Need for people of Integrity in Society. We hope you enjoy the class!

 

NEED FOR PEOPLE OF INTEGRITY IN SOCIETY

The society needs people of integrity for the following reasons:

1. Community Development: Men and women of integrity help in speeding up community development. Only men and women that hate bribery and corruption can judiciously spend money meant for providing basic infrastructures for them masses. Communities without men of integrity can hardly progress because funds meant for community development would be embezzled thereby retarding the growth of society.

2. Peaceful Coexistence: people of integrity will always make an effort to ensure peace in the society. Men and women of integrity would prefer losing an election to winning at all cost thereby causing riot or conflict in the society
3. Models for young ones: If our young ones must imbibe integrity as a value then those in positions of authority must display it because practice is better than precepts. A woman like Prof.  Dora Akunyili is a model for many Nigerian youths today. During her days in NAFDAC as Director-General, she fought against producers, importers and sellers of fake drugs and food. Our society needs people like her to change the negative attitude of our youths particularly in their crave for riches and certificates.

4. Responsible youths: A society with many Men and Women of integrity will produce boys and girls of integrity. The nation in the nearest future is sure of having responsible leaders who just want to rule to make a positive impact in the society rather than stealing from government purse and enriching themselves.
5. Good International image: A country with men and women of sound character and proven integrity, would be highly respected in other countries. Nigerians have been subjected to unnecessary embarrassment in many countries because of our image that has been battered by a few Nigerians at home and abroad. Our youths must decide to emulate and pattern their lives towards men of integrity

6. Elimination of Evil practice: If atrocities like bribery and corruption we see in almost all offices must stop then we need youths, men and women of integrity
