Food Contamination

This refers to the presence of harmful microorganism or chemical that can cause illness in the body.

Causes of food contamination or poisoning

Food can be contaminated at any stage during its production, processing or cutting.

It is caused by eating food contaminated by bacteria.

 

Symptoms of Food Contamination or Poisoning

  • Stomach pains
  • Vomiting
  • Fever
  • Feeling weak
  • Diarrhoea

 

Sources of Food Contamination

  • Eating spoilt food
  • Drinking polluted water
  • Unhygienic handling of food
  • Eating food not properly cooked
